My apologies for the late post. A lot of things to take care of before we ring in the New Year.  The Pretty Palettes challenges are hosted by Erin Prais-Hintz and Halcraft. I didn't use all of the beads, but I really love the rustic look of those brown ceramic beads.  The focal I chose is a ceramic piece made by Pat Antonick of Heliotrope Bead Studio in Dayton, Ohio.  I love visiting her shop.  It's small, but her workroom is enormous.  She is an artist, beader, and quilter.  I am lucky her shop is close by.  The twisted looking ceramic beads were made by Pat as well. Check this link for more information!     TWIST?     The reveal is this Thursday, Dec. 18th!  I managed to get all of the beads for the challenge, except for the crackle rock crystal.  So I will use a substitute--White Quartzite stone, 8mm.  The beads go with this beautiful winter palette: The beads. I decided to play along in this month's Halcraft Pretty Palettes Challenge with Erin Prais-Hintz.  I love challenges.  The inspiration is from Design Seeds.  It's so rustic and colorful at the same time.  The challenge is to select beads (no, they don't necessarily don't have to be Halcraft beads) and create a jewelry design based on the palette.  Easy, right? November inspiration is the perfect shade for fall: ORANGE!                                From Design Seeds http://design-seeds.com/index.php/home/entry/pumpkin-palette To go with the palette, I chose red-dyed quartz (Halcraft), gray agates, and agates that have all the colors in the palette. These beads are 14mm and a little heavy, so I went with making bracelets and earrings. That was a lot of fun! Day 5 is here and the photo challenge is now over (for me anyway).  Now here is the last picture. Skylight The skylight is located on our roof.  I sat on the floor to get this shot of the melting snow. Now it's time to get creative.  What should I photograph now?  I've been outside, but today it is about 13 F and feels more like -2 F because of the wind chill.  Brrrrrr.  So indoor photos today.  I am glad I decided to play along side Day 4 of Donna Millard 's original B&W photo challenge. Bathroom Window When we first moved into our house, I was so excited to decorate!  I found this metal sculpture ginkgo tree in a catalog.  So I bought it, and then couldn't find a wall I wanted to put it on.  Then inspiration hit me!  A little bending, and voila!  It fit perfectly in the window sill.  A little feather covered styrofoam bird was added a few years later. Only one more day to go for this challenge.  I am having so much fun looking for things to photograph.  Have I said I love challenges?  Well I do. Keeping Warm,     Renetha

I went a little crazy today, as it was our first "big snow," and took several pictures around our house.  Snow day for my two youngsters.  My oldest son just left for his college work-study job.  It was a lot of fun trudging through the snow and breathing the fresh air.  Enjoy day 3 of my personal B&W photo challenge. The snow has just started, after a wet and sleety start.  But I have a feeling that in the morning it will be icy roads and school closings.  I will be up early to watch the news.  Possibility of 3-5 inches by noon. I sneaked out for a few minutes shortly before midnight to take the picture below.  I had fun trying to get my camera to take pictures at night using the macro lens, but no luck.  After removing the macro lens, I was able to get this shot of the fire bush in my front yard. Fire Bush at Night LOL!  I renamed the picture, but forgot to save it in color.  Oh well. Have I mentioned that I love challenges?  Even if it is just for me?  Well I do. A Facebook friend and awesome lampwork artist, Donna Millard , was called out by one of her friends to a 5 Day B&W photo challenge.  Her picture is just beautiful.  Her challenge inspired me to give it a try. We are expecting snow tonight, so I might sneak out and take some more pictures. Keep in mind, I am am not a professional photographer. Here is my photo. Today my boys baked bread using the bread machine!  I watched the last half of the Cleveland Browns game (they won!).  I had a pretty quiet day and almost forgot about the blog hop, I was so relaxed.  So I took a few minutes to make a couple of pairs of howlite skull ear rings. The ruffled lampwork disks are from Modern Trails; however, her Etsy shop seems to have disappeared. Details, Details Jeannie  ( JKD Studio ), sends challenge participants a piece of her jewelry for free.  Our challenge is to repurpose the jewelry into something beautiful and amazing.  Each participant receives a bracelet or a necklace.  I asked for 2 pieces to work with.  The participants don't know what they will end up with or even if they will like what they receive. Here are the pieces I received: One necklace made with peridot chips, silver spiral pendant, and turquoise accent beads, and one bracelet made with red rounds, crystals, and gold seed beads. The necklace reminds me of spring, but since it is now fall, here are the beads I decided to possibly use in my design or designs. I didn't get as much done as I had planned to, but here are my "done over" jewelry designs.
